Album Reviews
Sleeping Giant
Sons of Thunder
I just bought this with Living Sacrifice's The Infinite Order, The Showdown's Temptation Come My Way, and I have to say that if you're trying to pick out 3 CDs to get, I'd highly recommend these!
The first time hearing Sleeping Giant the song seemed rather simple and monotonous, but as I kept listening I think that slow start is a style in lots of their songs. Its very cool though, in some ways, chilling by the time they reach the end of the song. I really can imagine these songs picking up speed like a train until they hit top speed where they would just SMASH through anything in their freight train of Sleeping Giant.
This album also features Ryan Clark, vocalist from Demon Hunter, on The Army of the Chosen One. Very cool!
By the way, I thought the last song, He Will Reign, was great, and something I could imagine hearing in a church youth group. I had read a post recently that one of the band members got married and someone asked if they played at the wedding. As much as I love this style of music, I couldn't imagine having a hardcore band playing at a wedding, so I thought that was kind of an odd question, but now that I've heard He Will Reign it doesn't seem to be so strange.
Overall, I think this is an awesome album for anyone interested in Christian Hardcore Metal. On top of the guys having a great sound, the band seems very bold for Christ.
I loved this cd the first song I heard off of it was "The Streets Don't Lie" and I think that was all about when the singer of the band was homeless there for awhile and was like couch surfing from all his buddies houses and then ended up landing in a hotel and staying there for awhile and stuff like there would be now grace in this world if there wasn't suffering to go with it or something like that along those lines, but ya anyways I had first heard that song on youtube just by typing in the band and that was one that popped up. One of my buddies was wearing a Sleeping Giants t-shirt and I was like who the heck are they so he burned me a copy of this cd and I was like dude this is the coolest thing I've ever heard and later on when I started getting into fuel radio and found out they were played here I was like I'm all over that. I heard the song "Sons of Thunder" and the entire intro of it is scripture from Matthew 5:38-45 and that just straight up brings out the song and makes this band for who they really are one big bad band rockin for our lord JESUS CHRIST!!!!!!
I just can't wait to see them come out with more music.
5 out of 5
